Once
the repetitive calcium waves have been established in the egg,
all the periodic calcium waves come from the same site in the
egg. This site is termed the calcium wave pacemaker. You will
likely note that the calcium wave pacemaker in ascidian eggs protrudes
from the surface of the egg. As indicated previously, the increases
in calcium are encoded white on a red background of low calcium.
